As most of you probably know by now, millions of people in the NY/NJ have lost their homes, businesses and basic necessities, due to Hurricane Sandy. We've listed a few ways below that you can help, so please check them out and we encourage you to contribute however you can. In addition, for the New York-area folks, please note that Rachael Sage will be producing a special Hurricane Sandy Relief benefit performance of "Tchatchkes & Latkes!" on Dec. 22nd at Joe's Pub; details below.

HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF: HOW YOU CAN HELP

Eager to help out those affected by Hurricane Sandy? If so, here are a few ways to do so:

Red Cross

  1. New York Cares' disaster relief fund. New York Cares is the city's largest volunteer organization, running volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools.
  2. iTunes has launched an easy-to-use donation page (just look for the Red Cross logo on the iTunes store's homepage). 100 percent of the donation will go to the Red Cross relief effort, and you will receive a confirmation e-mail after the transaction.
  3. Masbia Please consider a emergency donation now to Masbia. They are feeding 500-plus evacuated seniors.
  4. Red Hook Recovers is a recovery-organizing site for New York’s Red Hook neighborhood in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The site allows people to offer/request assistance, and is coordinated by the folks at OWS and community organizations on the ground.
  5. CityMeals.org
  6. Uri L’Tzedek will be going around to homes of senior citizens to make sure they have food & water.
